Being the youngest, Owen gets the honors of putting the angel on top of the Christmas tree. Which brought on the conversation, how over the years, Gerad would have to lift both the girls up at the same time so they could both do it, and no one got left out. We noted that we are finally at the point where one child can do it and the other's don't feel left out. Good thing, too, since they're 16 and 12!!!
BUT, just to keep the tradition alive...(She's saying, Uh, maybe you shouldn't pick me up anymore...")
So maybe it wasn't about preserving the kids' feelings after all! Maybe it's our wanting to make sure each of them gets in on the joy of the season. :)
